Hacking the Museum: Collections Data as Opportunity - Erin Canning, Student, Master of Museum Studies & Master of Information(CRO) University of Toronto
This presentation intends to introduce museum professionals to the concept of “hackathons” in the museum context. I will conceptually reposition the collection as data, and describe incentives for museum professionals to host hacks at their own institutions. I will cover examples of museums providing their own data sets for hacking opportunities, as well as the value in using your institution as a host location for larger cultural data hacks.
